How It Works

It's Snowing. Your Driveway Doesn't Care.

Heating loops under the surface, a sensor that knows when precipitation hits freezing temps, and a controller that does the rest. You don't even flip a switch.

  • Fully automatic — moisture + temperature sensors start and stop the system
  • No plow damage — keep your pavers, lawn edges, and garage doors pristine
  • No ice, no salt — safer steps for kids and grandparents, no corrosion, no tracked-in mess
  • Steep-lot specialists — engineered watt density for the slopes that scare plow guys
  • Zone what matters — full driveway, tire tracks only, or just the walk and steps

Where We Install It

Driveways, Walkways, Steps & Aprons

Full Driveways

Asphalt, concrete, or pavers — installed during repaving or new construction for the cleanest result and lowest cost.

Walkways & Steps

The highest-liability surfaces on your property. Electric cable systems keep granite steps and front walks ice-free all winter.

Aprons & Slopes

Heat just the garage apron or the steep section that turns to luge track every January — targeted zones at a targeted price.

Good Questions

Snow Melt FAQ

How much does a heated driveway cost to run?
Systems only run during snowfall, and smart controls with moisture sensors shut everything down the moment surfaces are clear and dry. For a typical storm, most homeowners spend less than one plow visit — without the torn-up lawn edges in April.
Can you heat an existing driveway, or does it have to be new?
Snow melt is best installed when the driveway surface is being replaced — which is exactly when most people call us. If you're planning to repave or repaver anyway, the incremental cost of adding heat is at its lowest.
Does snow melt work on steep driveways?
Steep driveways are where snow melt matters most — they're the ones that become unusable under ice. We design higher watt densities and tighter tube spacing on slopes, aprons, and turns so the steepest sections clear first.
What surfaces can be heated?
Asphalt, concrete, and pavers all work, plus walkways, granite steps, and handicap ramps. Pavers are particularly popular on the South Shore — the system lives in the bedding layer beneath them.
Hydronic or electric — which is better for snow melt?
Electric cable is simpler for walkways, steps, and smaller areas. Hydronic (warm fluid in PEX loops) usually wins on whole driveways for operating cost. We quote the right one for your layout, not the one we feel like selling.
